Yes,

The 1100 models have the OS on the HD so any 1100 should work. There are actually 3-4 different rev of the 1100 model.

The 1000 model is not a good choice, the cpu is slower, less ram and the OS is in flashram depending on which rev you get. So it could over write your HD.

The only other model that can be used is the 2200. Doing so would require the the unit to be in JBOD prior to installing your HD. Then you can install in in the drive2 position, and can copy the data over. Once the data has been transfered over, the HD needs to be wiped clean so the correct OS can be installed.

Connect you 1100 through a UPS and run it 24/7 once you get it started. I never shut down my 2200, just make sure you have the email alert setup. If your ISP require auth it will not work, then you must snmp traps.
