It's a cost thing. IT persons are not normally mechanically incline. So it easier and faster to remove the HD w/sleds and have them destroyed vs taking the time to remove 4 screws. And since Overland sells HD w/sleds it not an issue with them. It takes less than 5 min to take on out of service but remove all HD. It will take hrs to erase and over write the data. And most have no idea on how hard & expensive the sleds are. Or value of one as a complete working unit vs junk.
