The older snap units are pretty sensitive to timing. But users have used the SATA adapters, but the key is finding some good ones. Ask Phoenix32 on all the problems he ran into when it was working on his project for the 4500.

Just remember that the 2200 will only give you 12Mb/sec transfer speeds max for read, I think it's only 8.5 write. So if you start doing heavy work you will notice the speed.
