Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
Hi all,
I have recently acquired a 4500 on ebay, but when it boots up it only detects the Primary Master and Seconder Master drives (2 out of 4 drives). I have checked in the BIOS and all ports have been enabled. I can also confirm all drives are set tot cable select. Any ideas? Many thanks |

Re: Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
Hi,
I also have the same issue. But I can either have both the masters available (through HD CS setting) OR I can have both Slaves available (through HD Slave setting) Unable to have both Masters and Slaves. I have tried all drives with jumpers set for CS. All with no jumpers ! Two with Slave and two with master ! Can anyone tell me which slots are specifically master/slave ?? Are we supposed to have these all set as CS, or no jumpers. Any help would be appreciated. Ryan - Worldhosted |

Re: Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
On 4500 all HD should be set to master or single drive.

Re: Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
Thanks blue, I shall have a try and let you guys know.
Also on a different note, has anyone managed to create an "image" of GuardianOS? I would like to see what it is like, before I attempt to install Windows Server or any other OS. Many thanks! |

Re: Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
Have you tried different slides. Put a working sled/drive in one that is not working and see what happens.
Distribution of copyrighted software is not allowed in any form, GSU or image file. How are you testing the unit without a OS loaded HD? Use a Linux/unix os to see if it detects the hardware, they do not rely on the bios.

Re: Snap Server 4500 not detecting all drives
Working fine now. Although the BIOS doesn't detect the third and fourth drive, they are detected by the OS. I managed to install Windows 2003 Server and created a RAID5 drive without any problems. Would have been nice I suppose if I had a copy of the GuardianOS which was made for these units......
