Not sure if you remember me (ordered 8 or so of your blocks in the UK). I have your LRWW and the base has some slight marks, whats the best method of taking these out? Would you recommend me polishing the base again or will I run risk of making it too thin?

Also do you have an email address I can contact you on.

Thanks

A quick hand-lap with 1200-grit paper on a flat, using (low smell) kerosene as a cutting lubricant, will be the best way to remove any marks and won't have a significant impact on the base-plate thickness.

Really though it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Thanks for that, I maybe just paranoid so i'll leave it.

Do you happen to have any spare black bolts used to fix the 3 plates together?

Yes, but it'll be cheaper and faster for you to go to a bolt & fastener supply store and just ask for some "M4x12mm SHCS" in Stainless Steel. The black ones can go a little rusty after a while and so I switched to holding all blocks together with stainless steel bolts.

SHCS = Socket Head Cap Screw

Would something like this suffice?

The description says

SS.A4.Pan.Hd.M/Screw M4X12mm POZI

Have also found this which is what you said

Tool-NET M4 x 12 BZP Socket Head Cap Screw

But could I use the POZI head instead of having to use an allen key or do I need to use a SHCS?

Harder to strip a socket head than a Posi one. You can also tight them more than the +. I wouldn't use them

the threads are in SILVER...im sure you could strip them with just about ANY "screw"

HERE is a thread over on OC where the G5 gets lapped. (and i learn to wet-lap)

Thank you for the tour of lapland--I used to think it was excessive--but the results speak for themselves. Great insights from Cathar and others in the crosslink. thanks!
