Default Snap 1100 hard drive

I have a snap 1100 that origionally had a Maxtor 160Gig drive installed. That drive has failed and is no longer accessable. I do have a backup of the data, so that is not a problem. My problems is that I just purchased a Seagate 160Gig drive and installed it. I have tried the jumper on the drive in both CS and Master with the same results. Now the lights on the front of the unit blink and I can not access it through a web browser and it does not respond to a ping.

Please let me know what I need to do to access the server again. I have left it sit over the weekend thinking that it was formatting the new drive, and still nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The 1100 stores the OS on the hd. Dead drive = dead snap.
You will need to copy the boot tracks from the original drive tha is dead. It's kind of hard to do. If you have another snap laying around, it will/may work.

Well the origional drive is not totally shot. If I put that drive back in the server, i can access it through the web. The snap shows that the drive is corrupt and it is doing repairs. It was like that for several days with no luck. I tried to place that drive in my XP computer and use Captain Nemo to look at it in an effort to get the data from it. Captain Nemo says that my drive is damaged and will not even try to read anymore. Is there anyplace that I can download the boot section of the drive, and if so then how would I go about getting that onto the new drive so it can boot. If there is a website with instructions that would be great.

Thanks again.

The snaps use a modified XFS file system. You may try dd from the knoppix cd. You only needs 25 meg at the start. If you need instruction for using dd let me know and I can email it to you.

i have the same problem as listed here. i can access the server OS via http and via the assist.exe app, but the drive is shot.

it's a v1 device. without the HD there is no os. I look at the forms and found your guide @

http://wiki.procooling.com/index.php..._To_HD_with_DD

so i guess my question is, where do we get the boot image bin file from?

model = series 1000
s/w = 4.0.860
h/w = 2.0.2
bios = 3.4.758

The 1100 uses the same image file as a 2200, so you could copy it's boot tracks. If it doesn't boot with the 2200, you should try the 1000 image file.
