What other types of OS can talk to a Snap server.
Since the snap assist utility is a windows prog...how does another OS configure it. I have friend that wants one of my spare snap 2000's but wants it to work with his ubuntu setup. sorry for the stupid question....I did the search feature and could not get my answer fully questioned ! ![]() |

As long as the snap is pre set to DHCP or Static IP it should not be a problem. Most linux can mount and write NFS file system. If the Snap was ever reset to factory setting you must have a PC or apple to run Assist. Assist uses a special protocol that SnapAppliance wrote to locate and do the initial setup. To my knowledge there is not any other program that can do it. Once the snap is on the network, any browser that has java support can connect the the snaps admin page (HTML).
Preset the unit to DHCP or assign a Static IP that will work with his subnet, then let him play/test it on his network.

I think it will... Or at least get you logged into it if needed (find it on the LAN)...

If the Snapmanager can see the 2200 it can configure it. Beside if you set the IP to DHCP it can always be setup with any browser. May have to look at the log to find what IP address it has. Or do a reserved IP and have the DHCP controller set it to what ever IP address you want. That way it will not be moving around on you.
