ok, so where is the gun nut forum?

I had some R/C stuff, heli that was uncontrollable and an inferno that I never could get to start, so I sold them and bought some guns

http://www.resago.com/guns.html

This year I bought a serbu BFG-50 , thats .50 BMG as in burt gummer's grizzly.
It is truely AWESOME!, nothing quite as satisfying as blowing a hole clean through a troublesome HD or a 2" STEEL plate for that matter at 1000yds.

Re: ok, so where is the gun nut forum?

I was looking at building a 1911 of my own. Nothing great, just your average a1 but maybe on a TI frame. Where do you order most of your parts?

I know I can get a springfield Gov model for around $400.
could I make one for that price?

I'd love to build a Ti based commander.. or get an S&W Scandium commander..

Probably not.. .. frames and slides I get from Caspian. Internals I order from brownells. The frame and slide are almost 400 alone (Ti frames are expensive too) .. then a good barrel is another 100+ I think I average close to 800 in parts by the time I'm done.. There are good deals on ebay, gunbroker, etc.. that can bring costs down, or find exactly what you are looking for already done.. I think of building 1911's like building computers.. its not usually cheaper, but you get exactly what you want with the parts that you like.

Re: ok, so where is the gun nut forum?

ok, here's my 1911a1 modified. It is mostly a Rock Island Armory 1911a1.
I swapped in a McCormick Hammer and compensator bushing. Peirce modular finger grips, Ajax black Pearl hand grips.
I used a dremel and sandpaper to make the grip safety less pointy. Then I re-blued the peice to make it look stock. I have an extended thumb safety on the way. I'm still trying to figure out the sights. I need some good targets.

Nice little gun there. I see you follow gun safety and have your finger off of the trigger though. Is that one fun to shoot in Taiwan? I thought it'd be hard to find a good range there.
