Hi All
I've learnt a lot looking through this forum this morning (snap topics other than my problem, but hey!) - thanks! I have an issue trying to get a SNAP 4500 running GuardianOS 3.2.019 SP1 to join a 2K AD (domain previously adprep'ed for a 2k3 server to join, I may add). I'm trying to add as follows (Windows> Security) Member of: Active Directory Domain Workgroup/Domain Name: CB.GRP *Organizational Unit: Servers *Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP: (No) Allow Trusted Domains: (No) Enable Guest Account: (No) (The account I'm using IS the domain admin) I get: Failed to join the PDC server. Check network availability and PDC server status. Failed to find the PDC for domain CB.GRP From the SSH login I have checked DNS - all seems well, I can resolve cb.grp hosts... The DCs are all up and running. Where am I going wrong? Any idea how I can determine which "PDC" it's looking for? Thanks in advance! Jon |

I'm no way at all up on the AD stuff. But the common errors are the servers /users and auth is were most of the problems accour. Take a look at the 4500 log, and the MS AD server log. There should be a entry pointing you it the right direction.
Failed to join is a user/server auth failure. Make sure all of the server names are mapped corectly.

Have you manually got the DNS, WINS and similar set?
Or automatically As from one of those, it will be pulling it from one... Or if the domain/workgroup is right, whichever is broadcasting to be the DC

Now I KNOW I am a hardware guy. 80% of that sounded like an alien language to me and gave me a headache...

Hey, I hold my own in the software stuffs most of the time, it is when we get DEEP into that networking crap that drives me insane.
