Default Removing Processor...Snap 4000

Replacing the systemboard in my 4000, anybody know how to remove and replace the processor?

It did just pull off of the old one, but seems to have no way to "fasten" it to the new systemboard.

It looks like it must have some way of clamping down?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Frazer

Nope, they don't. In fact, I been looking at mine trying to figure this one out myself (without damaging the CPU).

There is one MB used in both the 2000 and 4000, it has the zif socket.

I wonder if the fan retention is used it secure the cpu. Sure hope it's not a surface mount chip.

You have to use a flat screwdriver. If you look at one side of the socket, it says "open" and the other side says "closed". If you want to remove your cpu, insert screwdriver in the side that says open and GENTLY twist left and right and you should see it slide just a little bit. cpu should lift straight up.

Oh yes, BEFORE you do that, If the two screws that hold the heatsink on are still there remove them and the Plate. DO NOT try to remove the heatsink from the cpu, they are glued on there pretty well. you might damage the cpu.
