I have a snap appliance server 14000 that has 3 shares (ie....A,B,C) on it. The 3 shares are accessible from window and unix. Every morning if I try and view or connect to the snap server I am unable to see the C share on the system. The other 2 are working fine and the only way I can get the missing share back is to reboot the system daily. All the shares are setup the same and this was working fine for several months until a few days ago. I have reinstalled and upgraded the OS on the server and rechecked all settings. I thought I had it narrowed down to the nightly backups causing this problem so I turned them off for a couple nights but the problem continued. The windows active directory domain is on DST time and the NIS domain and snap server is on GMT time. The time is in sync from the nis domain since I disjoined the snap server from the active directory domain in my troubleshooting. When I rejoin the windows domain I can not access files on the snap server from windows. Could this be a time problem even though the times are the same but the time zones are different? And why does this only affect just the one share?

Connect to the snaps admin page and see what state the drives and shares are in.
Do you have the Raid5 array set with a 3 disk array and 1 spare or 4 drive share? What version of the OS are you running?

The drives and the share are indicating no problems. It is currently setup as a raid 5 with a global spare. The OS ver is 4.0.228 and I also installed the patch for it. I know there are newer ver out there but the snap/adaptec folks won't let you down load them if your support agreement is not current.....what a crock

Take a look at the log but change Alarms to ALL so you can see everything.
Do you have a SNMP server collecting traps? if so define a rule to capture all and have it poll the shares. If you need one, download the AdventNet OpManager and set it up to recieve the traps. It's free if you monitor 10 items or less. As to Adaptec I/we share your feelings. I do not feel this is a Software problem, leaning toward hardware at this time.
