Default NTFS - FAT32 - long filename support

I am having trouble copying data to my SNAP 2000 - it was a DELL 701n but i debranded it and upped the software to 3.4.805.

When i try to copy some files - not all - from my WinXP box to the snap server it says "invalid file handle". The file is fine as i can open it and copy other places without a problem. I put this down to the snap server reporting that it is using FAT not FAT32 or NTFS.

Q. How do i get my snapserver to format itself with FAT32 or NTFS?

Kind regards

Kevin

Not going to happen. The file structure is a highly modified BSD Linux structure. If your 2000 is not a v1 I would upgrade to v4.0.408 SnapOS. It can be had for free from Overland.

Thanks for the info blue68f100.

I have tried downloading the latest software from overland but everytime i try and register my hardware it presents a malformed web page. I have tried it on numerous machines, running Linux, XP and Vista, I have tried using Chrome, Firefox and IE7 with the same results.

Any suggestions why i might get an "invalid file handle" message when most of the files copy accross fine, and the failures open up fine on my host XP machine?

Kind regards

Kevin

After searching for this for a few hours i came across this link from Overland. I didn't have to register, i found it through google.

It states that is a free download so i am sure i am not breaking any copyright by posting here.

A full copy of 4.0.860 - not just the upgrade. Although i did notice that all the file sizes for the upgrade and the full version are exactly the same so it must be a flag set on one of the files that stops you upgrading from 3.x to 4.x using the upgrade.

I will try this and post back here with the results.

Cheers
