JoeC tests 6 pumps for flow rate using a stopwatch and quart jug... and miraculously has .1 GPH resolution. I couldn't find any pressure drop info on the loops tested, so the results are totally meaningless anyway. Then the VA 1300 is declared a winner based on prices not shown in the article. The only meaningful conclusion that you can actually find is that pumps perform nowhere near their rated free-flow spec in a real system, and that pumps with a lower free-flow rating can actually perform much better than those with higher ones. It was meant (IMO) to demonstrate the typical flow rates that people achieve.
Strangely, I thought most people achieved 100 gph by now: I was surprised to see 50 gph. |
