As you know I have been looking for a SNMP program that was free that supported all of my hardware. I have finally found one that I like. It's called OpManager by www.adventnet.com.
Works with Snaps (SnapOS and GuardianOS) and other network hardware, UPS, switches, routers, AP, PC's, etc ...... The FREE version supports up to 10 devices, can and does support sending email alerts through ISP's that require Auth. Since most of my hardware is not where I spend most of my time, this was key. I lost one snap due to a hardware fan failure and do not plan on a second. Particularly since my hardware has gotten more expensive. Another nice feature is that it runs apache web service so you can remotely access the program from any where. The setup is some what easy for snaps. The hardest part is setting up traps if you want unsolicited traps. I am running v6 but they have a new v7 that is due out in a few months, available for download. Did I mention that it comes with free tech support, including a toll free phone number. Have not used it yet, so I can't judge on it's level of service. I have it running on a old P4 computer that I use for testing hardware in. This is the only service I have running on it. I have a FW rule setup to block all ports except port 25 outbound.

hey blue, do you still run OpManager? Apologize for resurrecting such an old thread, but wanted to get your input on oid's used or if you had to manually upload your own mib's for the snaps. Ive been messin around with it this evening, seems to run pretty good on a P4 2.8mhz server.

Yes, I'm still using it. Have had no problems with it. My pc I have it running on is an older 1.8ghz P4 on Win2000 Pro. I use the remote login most all the time. When I first set it up I had to look at the unsolusited traps and create a few rules to handle them. I have to recheck a few, due to the fact that I did not receive one on a fan that was acting up in my 4500. It had not complete failed so that may have been the problem but the server log had logged the problem every time it kicked started it. I did find some oid's for the snaps, but if I recall the snaps used std linux traps.
I like the fact that under 10 device it's FREE. Covers all of my equipment. I have my firewall setup only to send emails to my ISP server only. I run no AV or FW on the pc becuase it does not have outside exposure, which helps on the slow cpu.
