Hello everyone, I am a newbie with a snap 4500 running Gurdian OS 4.4.049 SP3 and would like to upgrade to 4 500 GB WD HD's. As I understand from my searching here I have to break the raid, put a new drive in pos 2 and let it sync then move that drive to pos 1 put the 1 drive in 2 sync and so on. I have a couple of questions and please excuse me if they have been addressed here before but I have not been able to find answers. My ignorant questions are.
1. What is the numbering for the drives in a 4500, left to right or vice versa? 2. When I go to break the raid it says that I must disable NetVault and will lose it's configurations. Is there any way of restoring NetVault after the HD upgrade to it's current state with it's current database. Again excuse me if these items have already been addressed. Thanks for any help. Steve. |

The drives are numbered left to right.
Disable AV if your using it, too. I'm not running NetVault so I can say. You should be able to backup the settings though, but I don't know how.

Thanks for the reply Blue. I guess I will just do the drive upgrade and then restore the NetVault database and see if it works. Thanks again.
