ok, need some recommendations from those of you with similar hardware. I just rigged up a 2x16 lcd i pulled out of a phone the other day. its got the standard HD44780 controller in it. (viewing area 15/16"x3 7x8"

you could try the crystalcontrol software; I think it works with HD44780s.

Thanks for the info guys. That oughta take care of things. I have it installed now also. Check out This thread to see what i did with it, and trust me, you probably haven't seen this done with an lcd display before.
