LOL. actually, i heard mention that there was an old monitor type back in teh day that you could actually cause it to explode via software by controlling the ray.

either way, we're all screwed when terrorists figure out how to blow us up. glad my heatsink is bolted to the motherboard, that 10lbs of copper should hold quite a blast

I remember a guy telling me this same story, many years back, and he really believed it! It was really hard to convince him he was wrong, because he had no idea how a microprocessor actually works.

this did the rounds wayyyyy back when i was first getting into computers. there was an article in a UK newspaper, "The Sun" that was very similar. both were scanned in and emailed around the globe and hit my mailbox several times. up until about 3 days ago i still had copies of both, but a hacker got into my PC and blew up my storage drive
