Default Motherboard/CPU Input

I am going to be purchasing another Motherboard / CPU next week, and thought I would get some input from the forum.
What do you guys think is the best combo of motherboard and CPU ? What will get me the best overclocking results?

Or... From the other side of the fence...
Get an iWill KK266 and a TBird anything along with the best ram you can afford.

That new iWill board does 160 easy, and 166 for some people. Choose a TBird depending on your budget. Rumor has it the latest 1G+'s have a revised core (week 3 and later) and are hittin 1400 easy. Damn wish I could budget one of those right now..

Yeah... I'd go w/ AMD now if I were you. Grab a KT133A (or DDR if you feel like being an early adopter and grabbing new RAM) and a Duron/T-bird.

Issues, mistakes .... maybe. The ultimate decision was number 1 I have not yet built an AMD system, and number 2 I need an AMD system to use to do some water block testing on.

do u actually have an AMD system??

I can tell u... hardware conflicts are the result of mobo's... (or bad configured mobo and win)

i'm sure u dont want to see my irq-layout from my old asus p2l97-ds (440lx).. (that intel)

even win2k couldnt handle 3 NIC's and double scsi on that mobo..

Frank, it seems W2K cant handle IRQ's on older boards well at all. I do it with this machine and I cant get dual video cards to workin W2K at all it always gives IRQ problems and such

even getting dual scsi under win98 is a bitch..

but my server (win2k) can only handle 2 of the 4 PCI slots... strange isn't it? AGP and ISA.. NP!
win2k detected the cards... but freezed when installing them or at starting win2k..
win98? all 4 PCI..

but its sooo stable... over 3 months nonstop 24/7 RC5'ing and serving..

at least they admit they haven't done their job..

its a pitty for them if u know AMD was outselling INTEL 10 to 1 at 1Ghz procs..(while intel has 5 times the capacity of amd)

I'm definitely not saying amd or intel is better.. but the fact remains that amd has a much better pricing..

and for us some minor incompatibility is easily solved...
at my work the DELL's have a lot more incompatibilities than the AMD workstations.. (i know .. dell sucks)
