Default How do you figure WATTS?

I got a kick ass sitch from work. actually its a lighted buton that you can "snap" as many switches as you want. so I want to set it up like this: push button, pump comes on, buton lights up vai molex connector, shorts open swith connected to positive wire on "power on" button. now able to push "power on" button to boot up system. Way Wicked Cool! This setup makes it impossible to boot you box before your water is on. heres the problem. the switch is reatd at 600v/10 amps max current. my pump(Mag drive) is listed at 115v/25 watts! how do you figure watts? Help my whole rig rides on this !

Volts X Current(Ampere) = Watts
600v X 10A = 6000 Watts

In terms of your power supply. it is the amps you are concerned with, anyway. Even the Enermax 651 only supplies 20 amps, and the 10 amps for your situation is sucking half of that.

115 volts/25 watts

amps = 115/25 = 4.6 amps

The way you described the setup sounds like it will work just fine.

HAS NOTHING to do with your PS.

only one question. How does the switch lite up? AC, or DC? if its AC, your fine. If its DC, how will you get it to lite if the PS isn't on yet?

Heres the way it works. The button has a bulb in it. It's not really a switch at all. when you push the button in two small tabs push out the bottom of the button. you can SNAP switches into the button in a Daisy cahin fassoin in two rows. only the first left switch acts as a switch for the licge all switches are seperate from one another so you can use it for AC and DC. UPDATE it got it in and it works great I'll post pictures when I get them back
