Hey,
This is my first water cooled system and its gone well so far other than how do yous know how many ml of each additive do you use. I’ve heard 95% distilled water 5% anti corrosive e.g. water wetter. Question is though how do you know how much water will be in the system to know how many ml's 5% is? Everyone has different systems with more/less pipes and a larger/smaller reservoir. How do I go about guessing it? I want to add water wetter, an anti algae solution and some uv dye. How much of each do I buy? Next question, probably a very stupid one, is where do I get distilled water from? Is boiling water good enough or do I need distilled water and boil that. I want the system to stay clean for as long as possible so I don’t want algae etc. will a big bottle of bottled water from the super market do like Evian or something? ![]() Thanks for any info |

You can get distilled water from your grocery store. Just go to the isle that sells drinks and cokes and stuff.
I would like to know how much additive to put in also. Do you guys just guess at how much additive to put in?

it is, afaik, impossible to obtain distilled water here (unless you buy a water distiller) ![]() btw it would be illegal to sell distilled water for human consumption in the UK even if it were available - there is a minimum calcium level for bottled waters here... |

looks like ill have to get car battery water. a distiller is about 150pounds at least and i could replace the entire water cooling system with that kind of money so looks like ill have to leave the distilled water. thanks for the info guys, i would have been all over the city search for that water for weeks if not
![]() if i put water wetter into the car battery water and some other things like anti algae and uv dye do yous think it would keep the de ionized water more stable and not look for ions of all my gear? I think the only metal in the system will be copper also considering getting a pan of boiled water and collecting the steam off it for distilled water, anyone tried it before? Great, but what about the additive percentage? I've got some Water Wetter and some Bars Leaks. How do you determine how additive to put in?

Best thing to do is get a 50/50 premixed (50% antifreeze/50% water) antifreeze and just use it as is if distilled water is not available. If that isn't available then use 50% antifreeze and 50% of the best water you can find. You can also go with 30% antifreeze and 70% water. The more antifreeze the less the performance will be but you woun't be able to measure the difference in temps from 30% to 50%. At least I can't even with a Thermocoupler and DMM. The anti freeze I use says Ethylene Glycol and Diethylene Glycol in the ingredients. Water Wetter use 2 ounces to the gallon. Most systems are much less than a gallon so take 1/2 gallon and mix it with 1 ounce of watter wetter then pour what you need into the system and save the rest. 1/2 gallon should be enough to fill the system. I use about 1/4 gallon in mine but don't use a resivore. Note this is what works best for ME. Hopefully that was a little more what your looking for. ![]() |
