I can rebuild the Linkage section if you guys think it needs help. I even have access to the cgi_bin of the server nowadays I think so I can hack up the format. I quit working with it because no new links were being submitted. Come to think of it I am not certain that it works with the new server; I'll check on that today.

Bill:
I need a Wiki entry for Kepco stuff. Are you around a phone? I'm at home today and watching a couple of ebay auctions come close to their end

I would wonder if the Linkage section is being used ?
can you get the traffic stats ? (pg sequence, time per page, etc.)

the 'problem' may be getting peeps to go there

Well the site gets about 7 visitors a day on a good day so we aren't talking about a huge dissemination of information

I never knew that the linkage section existed, to be honest.

not cheap on a "per pageview basis" though (if I were telling the truth)

How many people show up when HardOCP links to a review?

pH, and ProCoolers...

In the past month, and for the last 10 months I have been doing an insane amount of PHP work and have wrote some excellent apps to organize, and retrieve data. (like a complete LAN Event Management System, and the upcoming MWL website thats in the final stages of being written.

I have a large stock pile of code (like 3MB of raw PHP code), functions, and pages I have made for the MWL stuff. In about 2 weeks I will have some free time to work on some side projects (since the new MWL site will go live in under 10 days). If you guys want to talk about an app that can be a dynamic FAQ at something like wiki.procooling.com I am game.

if you want to start a thread, and start talking specs, I will get something taken care of for you guys. I am off the site as far as running the place on a daily basis but have much love for it and want to help it when I can. So please let me know. I figure something like a Dynamic FAQ / info page with multiple authors, and submissions could be done in a couple weeks easily. I am in the coding thing right now, so why not benifit off it. then it also gives pH a reason to pay for hosting of the site still hehehe

HardOCP referals are far down from where they were at one time. Back in 2000 if hardOCP linked to an article on cooling (mainly cause high cooling was still a fringe niche thing) you'd get 5000 people in a day. Now it seems to be 1/2 that for water cooling links. But I think thats because the topic in general has become common place.

I think it's also partly due to the fact we are posting one page reviews of a single wb rather than a big shootout or a large project

Thats the issue - while the knowledge exists, its not getting to the community. Sure, you can pick up lots of stuff if you read the forums every day for a couple of months, read some old threads, do your own research etc. (what I've been doing) but the majority of people don't want to put that sort of long term effort in when they see a "water cooling basics" or "water cooling explained" 3 page writeup on some site.

A wiki would work if people (specific people - you know who you are) contributed to it, and if it got exposure - people need to be viewing it, and that means it needs to be linked to - maybe pH should take BillA up on his offer for Swiftech's press release mailing list.

There is a SIGNIFICANT fraction of water coolers that think Procooling is a bunch of pompous knowitall assholes. Writing a wki on watercooling probably won't do much to change that. So the people who could really benefit won't and it's a lot of effort for those who will. If there is enough interest that the work gets suitably spread around though I am game.

"There is a SIGNIFICANT fraction of water coolers that think Procooling is a bunch of pompous knowitall assholes."

this is so
I spent some time on Pug's forum and the dislike of procooling is intense
(please do NOT go there and be negative, it is Pug's sand box - don't pick a fight)
this dislike extends to include the competence of some/all of the 'big shots' around here

now I understand disliking an individual, but should such also invalidate the work done ?

I think a wiki would be a nice project, but accomplish nothing
look at the forums, most posts are asking the obvious (to us), which is already in stickys on that site
if noobs wanted to read them they would, but its also more fun to chat with others - and some enjoy the spoon feeding of others
good strokes, everyone is happy

I'm even thinking that using words like "idiot" and "fool" may be counterproductive
- better idiotic and foolish perhaps

Even though people might think that Procooling are snobs, if we still had a wiki that was peer reviewed and maintained properly that would go a long way.

Would suggest perhaps that there be 4-5 "reviewers" to whom they can get emailed new stuff that is intended to be added, so they can comment and call for improvements. An article of knowledge can be entered, but can only be made visible with approval from, say, 2 reviewers and the editor.

Many people abound in various forums pointing back to Procooling as a place where to get answers. The general tone here does tend to scare off the noobs though, which is perhaps a good thing, but a publically available knowledge base would go a long way to meeting the goals of educating the public.

Hmph. I have troubles expressing my humour in forums on-line as it would likely offend many people and get edited/deleted. Think "South Park", but less toned down.

Wait so is Pug still sending an AlphaCool kit to review or not? Guess I should e-mail him?

Just read through a bit of Pug's forum. So much hate.

I WOULD like to see their FAQ for the performance benefits of small tubing. Hopefully demonstrated by their being placed deep underwater with only 1/16" ID tubing through which to breathe.

Apparantly I'm a greedy hypocritical c**t (rhymes with hunt) who is only in this for cold hard cash.

I seriously wonder how many people can afford to live off ~$1000 US/yr? Mind you, out of that I have to pay the machinists for prototyping block designs.

I think I'll go live it up in Hawaii on the left over millions, that is, of course, if I can afford to pay for the taxi fare to the airport.

Anyone who knows who I work for and my real financial situation would think I'm utterly insane for even bothering to spend any time at all on waterblocks.

Hey I'm ill-educated (don't know if I should take that as an insult to me or my advisory committee) and apparently I work for Danger Den! If nothing else I got a new sig for the weekend

goddammit I just noticed that that retard insulted my wife too. If I weren't so busy counting money obtained from selling 1/2" water cooling kits I'd start a flamewar
