Here's what I'm looking at:
Pump: DD12v-d4 or C-systems. I want a 12v pump, so it looks like those are my choices. Opinons? CPU Block: I'm looking for a cost effective solution that will either match or beat a slk-900a w/92mm tornado. My thoughts - DD TDX, D-tek WW, DD Maze4. And yes, I'm a sell out, I HATE THE NEW SWIFTECH 6000whatever. Anyother thoughts? GPU/Chipset Block: Not going with either. Chipset doesn't give me problems and I've got an Artic Silencer on my 9800. Rad: D-tek Pro w/shroud, DD Heatercore w/shroud, BlackIce Pro or Xtreme...are any better than others? Or does it even matter at all? Rez: Looking for a Cylinder Rez - as long as it doesn't leak they're all the same right? Tubing: Tygon Anything I missed? Anything thats very off the mark? Thanks! |

As for the pump, you could also get the Swiftech mcp 650, which is identical to the Danger Den Liang D4.
If you dont want a 600x series block you should get the TDX and use the 4 or 5 nozzle. You could also wait for Cathar's new Storm block (in october... hopefully) or something new from Swiftech soon (rumors). |

How does that make you a sell out? if its because of aesthetics, thats understandable... |

Yes, I don't like it b/c it's ugly as heck in my opinion. However, is it's price/performance really that much better that other things on the market? If so I'll bite the bullet and take it. How does the swiftech 5002 compare to the 6002. The 5002 has looks I can live with...actually, the blue would match my case nicely...

As You can see in the comparsion graph the 500X doesn´t quite catch up with neither the DD RBX nor the Swiftech 600X. regards Mikael S.

Looks like I'll either bit the bullet, or see if I can pick up a cheap wb until swiftech or cather's new block comes out. I'm going with the d-tek pro heater core w/shroud.
Any more comments about pumps? I'm looking for a relatively maintenance free pump. Are either of the pumps better than others? Thanks for all the help! |

Quick question, how hard is the Dtek WW to mount? Looks like that beats the TDX, and everyone's sold out of the 6002. I don't want to rip apart the waterblock to put a #4 or #5 nozzle in b/c i'm new to watercooling and paranoid I'd screw it up. Thanks!

All blocks except the Swiftech blocks and DD blocks with the SHD (10 dollars more...) use the motherboard mounting system, so you have to take your motherboard out of your case to put your waterblocks on. It's a bit of a hassle but it's manageable.

I went ahead and placed my order as follows:
DD TDX w/ #4 nozzle (gave danger den a call and they're installing it for me!) DD 12v pump DD Cylindrical Reservior w/ 1/2" chrome barbs expoied D-tek 120 heatercore w/shroud 10ft of Clearflex tubing How much of a hit on my 12v rail will my pump make? I've got a Antec TrueBlue 480w. Thanks. |

It's up to 2 amps, closer to 1.5 amps. It's not too bad.

Thanks for all the responses. One final question. I plan on using straight distilled water in my loop. Everything is copper/chrome or plastic. Would I be harming the pump if I threw a little chlorine from my hot tub into the loop? I've gotta keep the growth at bay somehow! Or should I just add a touch of anti-freeze? Thanks!

Greenman100 strongly recommends against bleach in the water, because of corrosive effects. Chlorine is a bleach, works by oxidation of other substances, so I guess chlorine is a no-no. (I´ve been wrong plenty of times before, though) I would try Water Wetter instead. regards Mikael S.

a little bit of anti-bacterial/fungal rad coolant will do fine too, if water wetter is too exp for your taste
