bobkoure I ran the "Mark 1 probe" test. I find that almost all of my voltage regulators are a little bit warm
One is hot enough that I don't want to leave my finger on it more then a few seconds... Also there are too coils that gets just as hot... Below is a pic of my board with the hot spots circled. Click to enlarge ![]() Also have to very 2 warm voltage regulator but i can leave my finger on them NP... the rest seem cool... I could chop up an old P2 slot1 heatsink. It is alluminum, or should I go and buy some special copper ones? ![]() glue the partial heatsinks onto the voltage regulators... but the heat coils I'm not shure about.. do I have to do anyting with them? BTW here is a pic of my system... I will be taking more pictures later but the battaries died on my camera ![]()

A chopped up heatsink is fine for the voltage regulators. If their top surfaces are in the same plane you could just use one heatsink.
I don't think coils being warm is a problem... |

OK great...
I'll try to chop the heat sink up in the next couple days... Probably put some on my video card memory as well they feel a little bit warm… Quote:
I won’t worry about the coils if you think that is fine… Wouldn’t know how to put a heat sink on them if I needed to

by warm I mean like 50C
if you can hold your finger on it for 2 seconds it's ok

i considered that hot... in my description of my voltage regulators.. i could probly keep my finger on it for about 5 seconds... the warm ones are that just warm.. the rest feel cool or room temp... mebe go digging deeper into some areas that is realy hard to reach and C if there are any other chips i missed... the image of the MB doesn't exatcly match my MB but it is very close...

Most of the Heat from the Voltage Regulators is being sinked to the Motherboard. Cooling them better will should drop the temperature of the coils.

OK I finally got around to hooking up the heat sinks to the voltage regulators...
It definitely improves some... but I think that the more quite airflow I need is still missing… I think I will build an external rad box…it will solve this problem because the heatecore in my case is disrupting my airflow. Thanks all for your help. Starting a new thread here on my external rad box.

Don't forget to try one of those thermaltake (or was it thermalright?) fan brackets that mounts a fan inside your case. Even undervolted (so very quiet) a fan mounted this way may stir things up enough to cool your motherboard's "problem children"...

One I had to remove because it interfered with my water-cooling loop.. The other I currently don't have wired up to run... I should fix that With the external rad box I will have my hose run a bit differently where I will be able to run both my 90mm fans… they blow directly onto the bottom of the board(pci slots). I was thinking of adding some ducting to my front intake fans (dual 120mm) to have it direct the air more over the “problem children”.
