Well they might not be internal pictures, but here some snapshots of the exterior of the G5. Am still waiting for the proper middle plate to go with it.
Basic introductory picture: ![]() The following picture is an attempt to show the lapped finish to the base-plate. It's not a polished mirror at all, nor is it intended to be. It is very flat though... ![]() ...however it is still reflective enough to shave with. ![]() ![]() ...and the following picture shows what happens if you try to use a flash to take a picture of the base... ![]() It's so hard to take a blur-free shot with no flash with the digital camera and low shutter speed... ![]() ...and still I failed, the above and this being the best out of about 12 shots. ![]() A semi-decent attempt to show the level of polish on the mounting bracket... ![]() ...and a couple of parting shots with the camera flat on the table to give as blur free of a picture as possible. ![]() ![]() |

Cathar et al.
The second G4 (with stepped base) arrived today. You had said that this is a loaner to be returned, but would you rather I just forward it to a North American buyer after testing? Whatever works. I'll try and get the review up by Friday (I know everyone's salivating but much clibration remains). There is still no word on the first package which included the AlphaCool wbs. The stepped base is nice! |

Well, get moving!!!
Off topic: How did you get it through the customs? I thought they were on strike? One of my client is in Burnaby, BC waiting for shipment from overseas...

I have no idea how that works. Possibly depends on what office it happens to go through?

Second block was sent via EMS courier, so probably has some amount of customs clearance priority. Customs clearance is probably achieved through an out-sourcing of custom's duties to the courier's office, as seems to be the case for various couriers in Australia, and I would imagine that Canada is similar when it comes to priority mail services. i.e. semi-privatised customs clearance meaning that the goverment based customs clearance gets largely bypassed.
Sure, happy to forward it directly to a North American buyer, however the real reason I was wanting it back is because I was thinking of forwarding it to OC.com for review. |

Sorry to continue off-topic, but do you recall what form of shipping the replacement midplate is coming by?

I can send it to JoeC just as easily. I just got my coolant in the loop and am going to run the original Cascade a few times to verify that sensible numbers are coming out of the testbed. If so, I'll start running the G4 tomorrow night late (hell I might even run it tomorrow ALL night and then take a half day Wed at work).

cathar, if I make any difference, sending it to JoeC would be very monumental for your block, because his test beds make much sense to me, and no offense, test more blocks than procooling.

how could I take offense that he tests more wbs than I do? Pretty simple to just count the total number tested. In my highly biased opinion I feel I do a more thorough job of testing wbs (perhaps why I have done fewer) and I think that my results seem to be more internally consistent and make sense as a whole.
