How about the revival of the turbo button?
I'm almost positive you could interface it with a COM port or something, and if your board is advanced enough, it could overclock the CPU in windows by a couple MHz, and then turn up the fans in the case for say, playing a demanding game. I think it'd just be sort of a cool idea that would be farily retro.

yes, what you said is a challenge, but not my goals

I am not putting bling junk in there, you will see
Then why is this a challenge? Anyone can do noise and performance.

If you are blueskying what makes a good wced case/system then:

I desire a setup that is 100% sure to bleed of all air within moments and which I can still access everything in the case no problem. It also has to be possible to drain all coolant without taking things out and apart. This to me is the defn of "successful" from a wced case standpoint.

Here are my ideas for a perfect WC case:

1. plenty of room on top for a 77 bonneville core + fans
2. 4+ spots for hard drives when a pump is installed
3. 3+ spots for optical drives after installing the bonneville core
4. anti vibration measures to keep pump vibration to a minimum
5. active hard drive cooling for large arrays
6. aluminum so it is easier to cut and work with
7. nice paintjob
8. lightweight to counteract the heavyness of the watercooling system
9. filtration system to keep dust out
10. lots of room in the bottom front of the case for the pump

probably more stuff if I thought about it longer.

Maybe not an aluminum case completely but just where you want to cut, the rest could be composites ( fiberglass, but for the cool factor you probably would want Carbon Fiber )

its not doign noise/performance

it's doing noise/performance differently

for example, someone proposed exhausting the heatercore out a front drive bay

PSU cooling/HD cooling are other thoughts.

Done before? yes

done often? no

just looking for crazy thoughts, guys

I have a very simple request - enough room to put water cooling stuff in without it looking like a hack job or requiring the use of 90-degree elbows for tube routing.

In other words, I want a YY cube that's 8 inches wider.

Does anyone know of a good place to have a 16x14x8 aluminum box made? I want the frame to be welded/soldered together and all of the sides to be removable.
