What's the fastest combo drive?

I really want that dual drive, but I don't think i'll be able to get my grubby hands on one. Damn Japanese-only products... Well so my next best option is a combo drive. Which ones are the fastest and have burn-proof?

not too sure about burn proof, but most are 8x or 12x, I think I have seen a 16x, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Just buy two laptop drives, get two ide converters, build you own faceplate, and you're done
