I am wanting to test out my system by varying flow, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to throttle the flow rate of pumps? I know a few have knobs, but my Eheim 1250 does not. Ideally this would be something I could pick up at a hardware store (a valve or something?). I just haven't ever tried this before so I was interested to see if anyone else had a nice setup.

Yes I wish I could show some pics but you should be able to find it at your local home depot. What you will want to use is an inline valve that has a simple ball to regulate flow. If you lok inside of it you will see what I mean. It should only take a 90 degree turn to go from complete on to all the way off.

use your thumb and index finger to squeeze the pipes together. It isn't scientific, or accurate, but if you do it just a little, you will get some idea of what your temps will be.
