Well i finally found someone who sells eheims in Western Australia, and nearly died when i saw the cost, $148 AUD for the 1048
![]() Is this overly expensive (its about $72 US), or am i just going to have to keep designing this using my Hydor Seltz S30, which is apparently got a 1.75m ceiling and 650l/h (yer right....its a piss poor little rio ![]()

That is expensive for the 1048, yes. I think my 1250 (318 GPH) eheim was about $75 (US) shipped. Have you tried different brands? I feel certain that there are some good inline pumps available in Au; it just may be that the Eheims are not as popular and so ridiculously expensive. I think that Little GIant and Iwaki also make some decent pumps. Perhaps Brad can give you some other recommendations as he is in NZ...

why not pick up a Danner? They are typically much cheaper for the size, and just as good

arent the danners hideous for magnetic radiation effects tho?
I like the idea of the eheim as its shielded, as i have my case right up next to my monitor.

never heard of any problems with the danner. If you have problems, just put some lead in there.

![]() I think the chance of me adding some lead into the equation is slim to none ![]() Might as well just get a damn job and buy the eheim goodness ![]()

Lead sucks, steel will do fine for EMI.

ok, don't use lead then
![]() 13kg is really heavy for an empty case, how heavy is it with all your stuff in it? |

Too damn heavy
![]() Its a full tower case, with very thick steel plating, and it wouldnt be quite so heavy except that it has the removeable mobo tray, and all the framework that goes with it At least its a quiet case once you have the sides and top on, that steel blocks a lot of noise. Just need some rubber sheeting to dampen down the damn noise from my Quantum Fireball hard drive ![]()

Go for the Hydor Seltz LII if you can. It's the new generation and has quite better performance.
75 USD for a Eheim is average. |
