Re: suggestions for coolants
This is basicly where I am at myself, after building a waterblock and gathering a radiator and pump and tubing. One the radiator gets delivered, I have to decided if I want to spend some money for the non-conductive coolant or simply do without and try something like antifreeze and water, or water and a something like jetdry. I still need to run my 24 hour test and I will make pictures available once I feel its ready to be put into the PC. Coolnat is where I am now, and I havent decided yet what I want to do, I do know I need to test the setup prior to installation. I keep hearing about distilled water, but I haven't really looked into where to get something like that.
A list of coolants people use would be very helpful, from the 'cheap' to the expensive. |

10% Automotive antifreeze (5% if only copper/brass i. e. no aluminum or other metal contact) A few drops of Iodine (Preferably non-alcohol based) Read the label on the antifreeze, as some is sold now as "ready to use" which means it is 50% antifreeze and 50% water already. The non-conductive fluids available commercially rapidly become conductive when in use. You can look at Fluorient, it's been tried and works well. http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawe...6EVs6E666666-- It's just that it costs $200-800 per gallon.
