wanted to upgrade my 4200 ,160GBx4 to 500GBx4 raid0 (for daily backups2disk then to tape)
(all from memory) 1.) Removed old drives (mistake) 2.) Installed new drives (mistake) 3.) installed drive 0 (old 160gb)into drive 0 (sorta boots) 4.) waited 10mins, replaced drive0 with 500gb unit 5.) get recovery page. 6.) rebooted 7.) all seems ok 8.) cannot login to ssh or any of the pages that require a password (/sadmin/) (wont accept) can change the password but makes no dif. 9.) decided to reload the OS 10.) read the debug commands on this forum, ran "/etc/init.d/sshd start" 11.) got ssh to the server 12.) looked around "locate debug.cgi) for the update page to manually browse there, found it in admin.cgi (i think) folder in ssh. 13.) manually browsed to there http://mysnap/admin.cgi/update(or somthing) 14.) got the reload page 15.) reloaded the os. 16.) all done, working great 1.8TB I had some really bad experiences with snap servers (iscsi anyone), although they are easy to use. I took all our company data off these onto a new Win2003 File Server, i now use this one only for daily backups (ready for tape) just wanted to share. |

Ah, now that is where the newer OS would have come in. Guardian OS 4.4 would have resolved your issues with iSCSI.
