Dangerous running vdimm@2.8v?

Anyways im new to the whole ddr thingie and i dont know what the
"standards" are. Im running crucial pc2100 unbuffered un registered 256mb modules by the way.

stock is 2.5v, most boards offer up to 2.7v or there abouts. I doubt 2.8v would be too risky because of this. many memory manufacturers state their modules are fine between 2.3v and 2.7v anyway.

thanx! i will stay off the higher voltages then. my epox card offers up to 3.3v.....

People say that even 3.0v is safe (I dunno though seems a bit high). I would recommend using that as your absolute cap. Don't do 3.3v though... that memory won't last too long.

okey ... im using 2.7v right now as it seems that i have got the crappiest pair of crucial memory in the whole universe.... wont even to cas2 / 133@2.5v .... an no i dont have any form of warranty

crucial likes voltage, most people find they need 2.8+ to get decent results out of it. I've seen people running it at 3v or more for 6 months or so

Sounds like you have some shady memory. Most crucial can hit 150 mhz FSB w/ moderately agressive settings @ default voltage. I don't think the voltage is your problem. Your problem lies elsewhere.

im thinking of other things that can be the problem but cannot figure it out. my setup if it helps you out in any way .

epox 8kha+ w/ latest beta bios (havent tested others yet)
xp1600+ /w taisol (ystech 26cfm, waiting for new radiator)
2 crucial unbuffered unregistered, non parity pc2100 256mb(512mb)
MSI Geforce2mx400 (not playing any 3dgames so it doesnt matter, in the agp slot of course)
Netgear FA311 (10/100mbit NIC in PCI4 as this is said to be best
in the 8kha+ guide on amdmb.com)
Seagate Barracua 4 (40GB)
Generic floppy

and yes its true i have no form of cd reading device... still waiting for my 24x cdrw drive to come....

change it to 3/4 mem timing, and see how high you can run that way, it will tell you if your ram is holding you up or if it is something else

right now im running only one of my dimm´s @158mhz / cas2 / turbo /2.6v ... will probably go higher also... but i really hate this as i really really would like to have 512mb of ram.... not that i use it that much anyways .... but as long as i have it laying around...

Generally as a rule of thumb with SDR less sticks will do a higher OC than more. IE you will get more out of 1 256MB stick than 2 256MB sticks. This probably holds true to DDR as well. I too will be running a 8KHA+ with one 256MB stick of Crucial and will let you know what kind of OC I can get. I hear 160 FSB is about the highest most have gotten with crucial.

thats a northbridge issue though, it has nothing to do with the ram. It's why to fill all 3 or 4 slots you will often need registered and ecc ram

running 158mhz w/ 2.6v vdimm.... rolling along just fine... i will run my pc a while with only one stick as i really like the 2000+ sign in the bios bootup and the extra 267mhz i got out of getting rid of one of my modules... it posts upp to 180mhz bus with 2.8v vdimm also.... but my cpu doesnt like those speeds

I've gotten Crucial 2100DDR up to 169/170Mhz. I did it at 2.7v on a MSI KT-266PRO. The downside is that the board has AGP problems above 140Mhz FSB so I had to settle it back down.
