I have this eheim 1048 pump in my system. It should still be enough to cool me down right? Here's my setup:
EHEIM 1048 JaggedEdge WB BigMama Radiator Distilled Water with Water Wetter I will be adding a maze 1c-1 to the mix sometime soon, this block has much less resistance than my current block. From my calculations, this cooling system as it stands seems to have an efficiency of .08C/w which is also prety good. I will be goin back to my 156W pelt again, but this time I will be powering it with a 15v PSU instead of the 12v off of the system psu(baaaad experience). Anything else I should know? --MAtt |

yeah that will be fine, .08c/w is really good, even if you are using the insocket diode, most of them aren't too far out. (go to arctic silver's site for details on how to calibrate it)

I suppose the thing I am most worried about is the pump. is 158gph good enough?

158gph is enough, unless you have a major restriction, like a 1/4" ID point somewhere, or a large amount of 90 degree turns.

I will actually be going away from the 1/4" IPT fittings once the maze1c-1 comes.

would it be a bad idea to put my 120mm rad that is pictured here and here inline in my system before the bigmama to get some of the heat out of the water before it gets to the heatercore? I will be replumbing my system next week. keep in mind I will also have a 156w pelt adding to the heat there.

there is no real significant gain from adding that small radiator to the cooling loop. As long as you have adequate airflow, the Big Mama radiator should provide more than enough cooling for your system even with a peltier. All that extra radiator is going to do is add complexity to your system. Like most things in life, the KISS rule applies to watercooling as well. So Keep IT Simple Stu... I mean Smarty! =]

the heater core will handle 800w heatloads without an issue, with another rad you are just lowering flow rates, and adding size, complexity

the enermax one is probably the best because it is already equipped with a rheostat

scythe, thats from 12v though. if you run it at 7v you will offset it by almost half

hehe, ooh! I guess I will just run my fans in series on the 15v psu. that should give me 7.5V in pairs which aught to be excellent!!

yeah, that will be a cool mod, I have had the odd issue with two fans in series, with them drawing differant currents, even the same model of fan

I had this pair of fans running together in series off of the 12v line before, they seem to be OK. They are panaflow H1A's so even at 5v they push a reasonable amount of air
