...that is, does it benefit any more from watercooling if you've got something like a CrOrb on it already? i read somewhere that the guy was able to run a higher FSB from watercooling (and pelt cooling). just wondering if its really worth the extra cost...

you will get a higher fsb overclock if your NB is holding you back, but it might be your memory, graphics card, sountbridge, etc.
if you run slower ram timings and get no differance in stability or fsb speeds that faster timings, this normally means your NB is holding you back. If you can only run slowest settings at your max fsb speed, then it is your ram

Guys-
While we are on the subject, I have to ask an embarrassing question. ![]() How do I cool my chipset? I have neglected it! I have seen images of fans sitting on the heatsink posted by others but I have not given it any thought. Can I just put a small fan on the heatsink to get the job done? Thanks, Jim |

Thanks. What size fan would I use and do I just screw it into the HS? Jim |

On the first computer that I overclocked (celeron 500), I did it (newbishly) without added cooling or any real knowledge about adding heat and other system stresses... For a year it worked flawlessly at over 700mhz, but the NB burned out about 2 months after downloading seti... oops! So since ive decided to water cool my new system, I thought as long as im going through all the work to add water, might as well get a chipset water block as well. Put it inline after the CPU block and viola! It cant hurt, and putting it inline doesnt affect my overall water temp, maybe a half a degree... That may change once I start clocking more agressively though... who knows.
