Hi, I just got a toyota corolla 86 heater core from the junk yard today. They told me to take it out myself so i had to unscrew all the screws under the dash, but they did the rest because I didn't know what I was doing. My problem is that the tubes that come out of this heater core are big, 9.5/16" inner diameter, 11/16" outer diameter. Went to the copper piping section of home depot but they have nothing that can fit. So I tried to melt the plastic tubing and stretch it to fit over the tubes then clamp them. But not sure if it'll hold for long. Anyone know what to ask for at home depot or a hardware store? Can anyone also recc. where to get a good water pump, pet stores around me in nyc charge 60+ for a decent inline pump. Submercible pumps are cheap like 15 bucks though.

for the pump, petsmart.com
for the fittings, you could get some 3/8" or 1/2" barbs and "Engineer" them into the openings. Never underestimate the power of plumbers goop. ![]() |

You could look for some fittings at www.mcmaster.com although I have not looked for that kind of fitting before. For my heatercore (5/8ths copper pipe) I went to a local hardware store and got some fittings that are soldered onto the copper pipes and have a female fitting on the other end.

plumbing adapters at Home Depot. Find one's with the correct size outlet and as close as possible inlet. Then get some JBWeld . . .

Yeah, I went to home depot and got those barb adaptors. A little too big, so just sanded off the threads with dremel and it's a perfect fit. Does JB weld work? Don't wanna get near the torch again.
