thats a complete bs answer. amd make the specs, if they say make enough room for a 100mm x 100mm heatsink to get recommended on their list, the mobo manufacturer's will have to do that. if they say the official specs are no 4 holes then the manufacturers have to listen to that if they want to get recommended. amd can say they don't make boards, but they do make the specs for the boards

well if that is the case then i thk we should go for the spamming their hw support mail adress. sux ass tho' first time i invest in a quality solution (maze2) after owning it for 2 months now it seems that my next mobo upgrade will render it useless. maybe there will be some mobo manufacturors (epox , abit?) with oc'ers in mind that will implement the mounting holes anyway

the at7 has the 4 mounting holes, i think that's going to be the best athlon board for a while, at least until there is new chipsets

YO!! I saw this on the [H] this morning. Heres the clip...
Kyle: The guys over at AMD want to point out something about their holes. One thing that I meant to point out (that is obviously critical to folks you're dealing with): Boards that currently implement the hole pattern can continue to do so at the discretion of the motherboard manufacturer. I will go a bit further than AMD and say that all the boards even being designed now that are targeted at retail will still have the four mounting holes. As mentioned earlier, bigger board builders that do OEM biz and share PCBs between OEM and retail products will most likely be phasing out the mounting holes down the road though. Boy, I feel like I am in high school again. Spent the whole damn week talking about hole. (Sorry Mom, it just came out.) Also while we are on the subject of AMD, I have heard from a couple folks that they think that the Duron/Morgan CPUs have moved to copper interconnects. This is what AMD had to say. Durons are all aluminum and still from Austin.
