Ok, I got me a cheap GForce 4 mx 440
Now I want to cool the hell out of it, what do u guys do to mount heat sinks on the ram? Is Frag tape still used? Or what?

arctic silver thermal epoxy with some arctic silver 3 (to dilute it so the bond isnt permanent), or if youre cheap, arctic alumina thermal epoxy and arctic alumina thermal paste.
frag tape sux ass, dont use it. |

artic alumina also doesn't conduct, and it probably within 5% of the performance of AS epoxy. basically I would use arctic alumina

doesnt the GF4's use BGA RAM? if so, then it wouldnt matter (since the contacts are under the chip).
if it does use SMT chips, just put some scotch tape over the traces to prevent the epoxy from getting on them. |

yes, but it is still possible to get AS epoxy under the ram module itself

you'd have to be pretty generous to get Arctic silver under a bga chip. If they are bga, put a little bit of something along the sides of the chips to prevent anything from getting under. A little sealant or something...
