Default Ultimate Pumps?????

I had used a Grundfos pump in my floor heating system in my house and was so impressed by its quietness that I wanted one for cooling my new Athlon 1200. I chose the 3 speed 1542F rated at 750GPH. This is no plastic pump. Its stainless steel and weighs about 5 lbs, and has flanged connections. I paid $71 for it, which compared to what you all are paying for plastic jobbies seemed real reasonable.

Here are some test data on it.

All tubing 5/8" Braided PVC (10' total in system)
Pump - Grundfos 1542F
Waterblock - DangerDen Maze2 (1/2" barbs)
Radiator - Heater Core from Ford F150 Pickup. (5/8" connections)
(Real good clamps seem to pinch the 5/8 tubing down to fit onto the 1/2" barbs on the Waterblock.)

Flow Rate Pump Only with 10' of 5/8" tubing
High Speed: 563GPH
Low Speed: 409GPH

Flow Rate Pump and Radiator with 10' of 5/8" tubing.
High Speed: 360GPH
Low Speed: 285GPH

Flow Rate Pump/Radiator/WaterBlock with 10' of 5/8 tubing.
High Speed: 91GPH
Low Speed: 78GPH

What I found amazing is how free flowing the radiator was, but how much the waterblock choked the flow down????

What kind of flow are you getting in your system?

Christ! I'd worry something like that will leak like hell with all the pressure in that system.

You won't even get close to what its rated for. The 1/2 inch tubing alone would hurt you. That is if the internals of the Maze2 weren't a little less. Not to mention all the turns. Still with the kind of pressure that thing drives yours easily has the highest flowrate of any system I've seen.

I will admit that my 1250 seems a little girlish now. :o

My magdrive 500 gph flows @ 60 gph at the return line with all 3/8" fittings/lines with DD Maze2 and Blackice Rad, an extra 30 GPH at its high end is pretty good.

Well it doesn't leak a drop. Its as quiet as a mouse. Sure nice to get rid of that screaming Delta on the Thermoengine.

Update:

I am having one problem. The pump is sucking the tubing on the inlet side of the pump flat. (and this is braided PVC) I may have to hard pipe this sucker.....

WOW!!! Sucking the braided PVC tubing flat!!!

That is some SERIOUS suction there. I can handle squeeze that stuff half closed with my hand.

My only idea would be to get an adapter to bump the hose size up one size, then get a brass ring about 4" long and place it inside the tubing. That will provide about 5/8" ID and will definitely not collapse.

And if it does collapse, I will bow down to your almighty pump.
