Well, he said that the base was lapped to a mirror finish...but there are rather LARGE ridges and machine swirls in the base.

I like that heatsink, it answers the fact that thin fins just don't conduct heat up themselves very high, that big slab of copper obviously gets the heat up the fins. Heatpipes up there would be fun too
