Default Flow rate.

I now this will sound daft, but can your flowrate be too high. I have a eheim 1250, (all piping and connectors are 1/2") which pumps up the full tower case to the airtrap, then goes to a vauxhall heater core, then down to the maze3-1 (when they hit the UK) and back. Could I have problems and if so what is the best way of addressing it.

Maze2/3 (apparently) like flow rate a lot.

If there is anything in your system that might need checking, it's the heater core.

It just depends on the block!!! Some like high flow some like low flow some like it in the middle. Unfortunatly there is no better way to maximize your system other than trial and error. Unless of course you hold the key to the universe. I hear stuff about the science of flow mechanics and what not, but each system is different so each system would need a evaluation of it's own by a engineer that specializes on the subject. Who can afford that?

One (much less expensive) thing to do is get a valve that can regulate the flow and see what happens at various speeds.

Water cooling is not an exact science. Anytime you replace a part with a different one the whole works gets changed.

the block will always want more and more flow, but the radiator mightn't like it too much. Just try restricting a tube, and see what happens to temps

Thanks for the link - answered my question.

My wife has discovered ebay, so I have been off the computer for a couple of weeks - hence missing that thread origonally.

Well it looks like my "depends on the block" statment may not be right (from the link posted above) but I still stand by it. I have made about WB 5 designs and tested them all and the all react different at different flow rates (although it extreamly minimal). I use two different rads, one heater core and one tranny cooler an they both seem to do good. It is really hard to make a comparison on things for other people to use on their systems because everything is different and it changes the works.

I will not argure with webmedic though as I have seen all the rads he has tested and it is far more than most.

just tell her all the people on it are criminals and she'll never buy anything, and soon get bored of it

Trying to stop a wife from spending is like trying to stop an avalanch with a spoon.

I did however get a new digidoc for £30. Normally £56 in the UK.
