Has anyone ever used a kool mate cooler for a res? I was thinking of filling it with water but don't know if it would maintain a low enough temp.

hmm looks interesting...but ull probably run into the problem of 24/7 use causing it to fail early....saw the 5 1/2 year thing, but thats probably not 5 1/2 years of constant use....

50,000-hour operating life on the KoolMate 32.
But yeah, I highly doubt it's for running for long periods of time... Not only that, I'm not sure about the actual cooling capacity of it.

If you look in the Frequently Asked Questions section it does say they can run continuous. Im thinking they wont be able to hold a low enough temp though.

well, you could use it in addition to a normal rad, that'ld probably drop the temps to ambient; probably even lower.

I thought the coolmates just are using two HSFs with a pelt between and some good insulation. The hot HSF on the outside and the cool on the inside...
The result will probably be quite crap if you put a radiator inside it. |

i wasnt talking about putting a rad inside, i was thinking of using the Kool Mate just as a resevoir. i certainly think it can be used as a res in addition to a rad (but i think baker269 was thinking of using it without a rad?) im not sure id use it without a rad, since the water would eventually warm up, and i wouldnt know if it could chill the waster low enough as baker269 stated.
theres one way to find out tho!! |
