Default tygon is not a type of hose?

I live around the Spokane area and we have a local everything hose store here called "House of hose". So I took a trip in to get some tygon hose and the clerk tells me that tygon is not a type but a brand of hose. I did not know this:shrug: So he tells me that it comes in vinyl or urathane so I get 8' of the urathane since vinyl sucks and this urathane is awsome. It's 1/2" ID by 3/4" OD and flexes really well and it's crystal clear. Did anyone else know this about tygon? Also if you want to find water wetter go to a motorcycle shop thats where I found mine today

Tygon is a company that makes plastics. They apply the name tygon to some of their plastics, so the clerk you talked to was not quite correct. Tygon is a material in the same way that Perspex is. I don't know exactly what Tygon is made of, but maybe it will say on their website (http://www.tygon.com).

Well I went to their site and it said nothing of there being a Tygon hose or tubing. It gave thier Tygon trademark. So if Tygon is a type of hose why is there different formulas and applications for each line of Tygon tubing on their site? Mine being a urathane I would assume it's for fuel applications but it's not yellow like the one shown on there site it's crystal clear. Any way I have 8' feet of tygon urathane hose right here but like I said there was also a vinyl version they had in stock? don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about it at all this stuff looks awsome I was just under the impression Tygon was a type of hose you know like silicon,vinyl...

Nice weather we have had here the last few days!!! Trying to go fishing at Elocia, Fan, HorseShoe, Williams, Medical, W Medical, and Chapman lakes the last few days as I am on vacation and hardly got the kayak in the water. Rain, sleet, hail, SNOW!!! Arggggg.... Did catch a few RainBows at Fan lake today though.

I know where "House of Hose" is. Just never went in there. Probably should one of these days.

Hey I'm local too. Frag for a good price on waterwetter check the general store. downtown. They have it real cheap. But at shucks they have hyper lube supercoolant that is much better (no nasty smell).
