Default Eheim Problem

I seem to have air trapped inside my eheim pump. I am trying to bleed the lines of my setup and i can see that no air is entering the pump however i have many many bubbles coming out of the pump. I have left the lines running for hours and still have many bubbles coming out of the pump. I cannot locate any leaks in or around the pump. Any ideas or proposed resolutions would be appreciated.

could use some more info on your setup...but it could be that your pump is sucking air instead of leaking out water...i would check all my fittings again...maybe even try putting your pump down in a bucket of water and see if it still has air bubbles coming out of it

Got hose clamps? That would be where I started (sounds like the inlet isn't sealed fully)

You are definitely sucking in air.

Your pump should be OK, so check your connections, try a few clamps, if that doesn't work, then let's take a look at the pump.

Ok I have an eheim 1250 with 1/2" outlet to Black Ice extreme radiator radiator to 3/8 "Y" splitter splitting to CPU and GPU from CPU to Northbridge from northbridge to "Y" adaptor then back to the pump. I have a hose clamp on the inlet. I sealed the edges of all the hoses with silicone (the best I could). Here is where i went nuts (I have been working on this all day). Thinking i had a seal issue I filled the area around the inlet with wax. I still have the problem. I really don't know where to go from here.

Cyb-
You do have a riser tube to bleed air up and out right?
Any way to post an image a sketch?

Jim- No i don't have a riser tube. Currently i am bleeding the lines by having two open ends in a bowl (to get air out of system) when system is air free i planned on attaching the lines underwater.

From my experience, not that my method is the only method, I installed a "T" with a fill/riser tube. This way the air can move up to the top of the riser tube and out of the loop.

My setup shown here illustrates the "T". Several guys use this type of setup with a "T".

Another thing, you did install the fittings on the Eheim snug; right?

I see you used wax on part of the Ehiem, on the suction end.
Was that around the around the clamping ring? (I wish Eheim would have named the parts that create the group called "pump parts" so we could communicate them better in a case like this". Square heads in Germany.

Anyway, I didn't require any type of sealant material on my pump, all the "O" rings do their job. I have not heard anyone having to seal these area either. I hope the wax didn't bind and cause a gap in the clamping ring or the next part (name?) in line moving inward.

You definitely need a better way to get rid of that air.

I'm guessing that you didn't want to go the way of a (built-in) reservoir... You might reconsider that, especially if you have an unknown source of air.

Is there any way that you can post pics? It's really hard to see what's wrong!

Ok, what was going on was... the seal around the front of the intake on the pump was bad. i replaced the O-ring but it still leaked very slightly and was letting air in. So i removed the wax and filled the pump with an acrylic resin. My leak problem and air problem went away. So now im all good. Thanks for all the help amigos. Now i just need to find a place to download the Audigy drivers (not update)

Glad you found it. Hope you can get in there to replace parts down the road if need be.

I would contact you vendor about it I assume it was under warranty.

Jim - "I assume it was under warranty."

Umm it was untill i hacked the power cable in half and took the back plate off and filed the edges to get it to squish between the 3.5" bay and the side of the case (Lian Li PC65) above the hd tray! I totally filled the front of the thing with hard plastic so if I ever need to replace parts I get to replace the pump I tend to jump into things then when it doesnt work think it out and say to my self "man that would have been a much cheaper solution to buying all this crap twice" If I can get my hands on a dig cam I will send some pics.

Well what's done is done.

I read a post on a thread some time ago that a fellow used teflon tape to provide additional insurance again the Eheim leaking at the suction end around the big cap thing (not the barb) that had the bad "O" ring in your case.

I sometimes wonder if this is where I am losing fluid? However no sign of moisture under my pump or anywhere for that matter.

I almost cut the plug off my pump too but decided it might void the warranty.

Way to go CS.

I'm keeping this one in my file, 'cause I'm fixing to put together the same setup! I just need to pick the WBlock...

I remember the days of 486 CPUs, with a heatsink, most of the time it had a fan, and cost a buck and a half... We used any generic thermal paste, and the whole thing took less than a minute to put together. We didn't even think twice about it!
