i do believe UPS and FedEx do business 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week (business doesnt stop just because its the weekend lol). if you want to be sure tho, go here and send them an email. or, you can try digging around on their website.

As far as I know, FedEx, and USPS do NOT ship on sundays. I believe UPS does, but I'm not sure.

sigh... my life as a former UPS loader -> HELL ...

anyway you *can* have UPS deliver on a saturday (but not sunday)... its an option ( a little check box on the waybill ) when you ship the package but it comes at a premium.... also isnt an option at all service levels though, but if I remember correctly, it's an available option at 'express' service level and up.... I think... it's been a while anyway...

just give them a call and ask to be sure... 1800-pick-ups

plan your shipping smart.....if u order on monday and u get 1 day shipping you probably wont get it till wednesday depending on the place u order from (just because it only takes one day for it to ship doesnt mean that it will only take on day for the company u ordered from to ship it out)..order on tuesday u wont get it till probably thursday.....ect.......also i know ups will deliver 1day packages usualy early (8-9), 2day midmorning(9-11), 3day(11-12) early afternoon, and ground is usualy around 2-4pm...atleast thats how it is around here

Before I continue, if I remember correctly, 3day select gets shipped the same way as a 'standard' or 'economy' level package. The only difference is that if it does take longer than three days you should be able to get your money back.

There's a hint here: If you're going to be shipping UPS, unless you're sending it express dont bother with anything other than economy level service.

Okay back to the issue at hand, while it certainly may take as long as thursday to get to your place, I would bet on it taking less.

Okay, here's what I figure is/did/will happen.... if it shipped friday, it got to the local UPS hub the same day and then that same evening got loaded into the truck/trailer (called 'feeders' in UPS lingo) heading out to the hub closest to you. UPS allways sends out the trucks at the end of the week. (vs during the week where they'll wait 1 more day if the trailer isnt full and it isnt a high-volume route).

Another tip: For some high-volume, medium distance routes like Toronto-Montreal, all packages get treated the same with the exception of the early AM packages which get loaded at the very back of the feeder (for fast unloading).

Assuming the system is working the way it should, Your package will arrive at your local HUB over the weekend or perhaps monday and then be unloaded at the first shift. (Each hub has its own shift schedual so I can't estimate when it will be unloaded for certain). From there it'll be sorted out to the delivery truck lines for delivery as early as tuesday or wednesday (best guess)

All that being said.... this is all based on the assumption that nothing ****s up in the system, which can be known to happen -> although usally to a relatively low percentage given the volume the bigger hubs deal with.

Hope my input was insightfull

ya know, Airborne Express is the best shipper I've ever used. They are amazing. If they attempt delivery and you're not there, you can call their LOCAL office and arrange for the driver to come by again, that SAME day. You can even arrange to meet them at a certain spot on their route. Outpost.com used to offer free overnight shipping via AE. ...unreal.

I think I have the solution to the unemployment problem. Businesses, esp. carriers, should be fully operational even on the weekends. Businesses should also be open 24/7, so that I can get whatever I need whenever I need it!! (hardware from Lowe's at 3am.)

Hell ya ECU.

And nope, UPS didnt even pick up my package from cooltechnica on friday, the driver NEVER came. Then bruce went to UPS himself, and they would accept it!!! That is BULLSH*T!!!
So now I think he will ship it monday.

He even offered to make this up for me! Mmmm... Bruce!
