Default My Maze 3... interesting...

Well. I got my maze 3 the other day. I would have had it sooner, but UPS's 3day select service turned into a 7 day wait...

Anyways, I ordered a Maze 3 and a GeForce Block. I was happy to see the Maze 3 didn't have any major cracks in the Lexan top. It did have a very small start of a crack on one of the screws, but nothing major, and not a big deal at all.

Then I turn the block around, and I notice a piece of copper shaved off where it shouldn't be.

Now I really don't expect DD to replace it, cuz it's not that big of a deal to me, but I was just wondering if that came off during the sandblasting process or what?

Sorry about the picture size, but I wanted to keep them big for clarity. (I did compress them though)

Mine was like that too. I think it's just where it got nicked during the machining process. I'm not sure but I think I saw some pics in here on anotherone that was like that it might have been Jims???

Yep, I've gone through 2 maze3 bottoms, and they're both missing a bit out of the central pillar. The first block was in the initial batch, and suffered heavily from cracking in the lexan; the second was with counter-sunk bolts. Both, however, exhibited the machining flaw. I doubt it matters much, if anything it'll increase surface area and turbulance in the water directly over the CPU core, possibly (but not likely) improving performance or at any rate negating any possible ill effects performance wise.

Oh pffft... I nitpick everything.

And the lexan cracks are on the other side. But they're so small, it's not even worth taking a picture of.

small cracks in plastics typically grow to larger cracks over time.

If the crack is at the bolts I wouldn't worry about it as long as the crack isn't by the o-ring or barbs you won't have any leaking problems.
