Default Eheim + Reservoir?

Hi Guys.

Im currently assembling my setup, and I've got some problems with my Eheim. It's quite big, so I'm wondering if I should submerge it into a reservoir that fits my case, or use a small "airtrap" as "reservoir". The Eheim is fairly big, so the reservoir has to fit into my case(AOpen HX08). I have also thought about using one of those Dubro OZ tanks, but it's gotta be small.

What are you guys doing with your Eheims?

Thx.

So you're cramped for space in a HX08?
Check out the watercooled side of my cube case; it all fits without any real problems at all, though I've routed the tubing for convenience - not performance. The difference with a HX08 is that I don't have a drive cage where my airtrap/res is located. Do you need that drive cage? In case you don't then there's plenty of room in your case.

there should be plenty of room unoless youve got toons of hdds or CD-ROMs. try mounting ur hdds above the PSU, and put the pump lower front. the res can go into some unused 5 1/4" bays if you have any (thats where mine is going; ive got that case case).

All my 5.25 bays are filled. In the lower front I've got at quite big heatercore using some space. The main problem with the HX08, is its width. It's really not as wide as the Chieftec's or Inwin's, so the pump can't be placed next to my PCI slots.

could you put it in front of the core? what are the exact dimensions of that pump anyway? you might try hanging the pump vertically like Mashie did with his...

you could put the res above the power supply in the back, and put the rad down in the front with the pump in front of it. With the way the front bezel bows out a little you might be able to fit a 120 in between the bezel and the case. It might give you the extra room for the pump. That or use Mashies trick and mount the rad in the bottom of the case and duct the 120 from the front, and put the pump above the rad.
Here is a link to a case mod of the HX08

I personally prefer the submerged route. If you have room for a res big enough to hold the eheim, do it. This is my first NON-submerged setup, and I hate the pain of it. At least I have a big res in my loop, so my problems aren't as bad as a completely closed loop.

Maintenance is 200% easier with a submerged pump. i.e. filling and bleeding.

Yeah......I've also thought about Mashie's trick, but that would be too difficult. I might go with a reservoir from Innovatek. Anyone got one of those?

wow that kit looks pretty nice, except for the thin ass tube. The block looked like it would perform a lot better if they would have located the "in" at the bottom of the block instead of the top.
