Checked UPS status, it could be here tomorrow. This will be very interesting since I'm upgrading from a maze2. Hopefully I'll see lower temps.

Well my temps ROCK!!!! Went to the DTek spir@l, heater core , 1/2" Tygon and my Eheim 1048. Was previously using the Swiftech Quiet Power, Load with that was 49-55C with the ON DIE SENSOR of the CPU via my 8K3A. This way of reading temps is obviously the hottest and the most accurate. Ready for the new temps? How bout 41C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A drop of around 10C!!! Couldn't be happier!!! Here is the full system:

Hey Frag, how did you get your lines to glow like that(the avatar), I assume it's your system? Dyes? What lights do you have setup? If I put Purple Ice in my system would the lines be purple?

Hey grendel. The glow is from a mini cold cathode, yes a mini, that little sucker puts out some serious UV light. I couldn't imagine what it would look like with a 12" UV light. The green is just Hyperlube supercoolant, no dyelite at all. I prefer the supercoolant over the other brands because of the color. It's the same thing as WW or purple ice but green, and you can get it at just about any auto store.

No. Just the UV (black light). I bought mine from pcmods for $29.00. Now I have heard that a blue CC puts out a little UV light, but I have a 12" blue CC and I don't notice any UV light off it.

KEWL, Im happy fer ya.

well, I just upgraded my little duron 950 to a 1.33 t-chicken.
Temps on mine (Under socket probe, the whole grain of salt thing) are still in the mid 30c 35-38 idle the highest temp I have seen so far was 41 C and that is with a mild overclock of 1433 with stock voltage. Not to mention, that I have the Original Spir@l. Not the new one. The newer one has some design changes that "By the numbers" should increase preformance a tad.

Great temp drop! makes me proud

Here are the fruits of my labor! XP 1600 running at 1.9G at 2.05 Volts running Prime 95 & Folding AT THE SAME TIME for over 2 hours!!!! Remember, these temps are with the ON DIE SENSOR IN THE CORE OF THE CPU, not an insocket thermistor!!!

I must say that I am impressed with the new spir@l block. After upgrading from a maze2, my temps are on average 2-3C lower according to my KX7's socket probe (touching the back of the chip). The drop in temps is even more spectacular concidering that I also replaced the last half of my tubing with 3/8"ID where before I had 1/2"ID for half of my system. My chip is an XP1600+ currently running at stock speed. After a half-hour of toast, my chip leveled off at about 38C. After playing Counter-Strike, the core temp is at 37C. With my maze2, Counter-Strike brought the temps up to 39-40C. Hopefully my temps will drop even more when the AS3 settles.

The build quality is great. There were no cracks in the top anywhere, even with UPS ground shipping, lol. I really like the mounting hardware compared to dangerden's. D-Tek's mounting hardware seems to put more presure on the chip and is easier on the hands to install since they give nice thumbscrew-type nuts.

Before ordering, I was wondering whether the spir@l would give me much benefit since my flowrate is very modest: 3 90-degree bends on a 230GPH pump. But, I did see an improvement, and the spir@l looks great! And one more thing is that the spir@l seems to respond faster than my maze2. In other words, once my system goes from load to idle, my temps drop much quicker now. It almost seemed like once the maze2 heated up, it had trouble cooling down. Maybe it was the copper top that held more heat, or just a difference in design???

Short Version: great block, especially if upgrading from older-generation

so lemme get this straight. you were using a Swiftech Q-Power watercooled system. you then upgraded everything and got a 10C drop. thats nice an all, but how much of that drop can you contribute to the spir@l?? it would be nice if you could modify the waterblock that came with the q-power case to use 1/2" tubing, and see what temps that gets. honestly im not surprised your temps dropped that much......

I plan to modify the Swifty block to the UH version. YOur point is valid, I went from 3/8" OD tubing to 1/2" ID tubing, a copper heater core and a new block. It seems that the differences between all the "Latest" blocks are within 1-2C of each other, everything else being equal.

Hey no one ever thought that the block was all the reson for the temp drop....... that would be well......... outlandish. I was just happy to hear that the Spir@l was included in the upgrade, and was part of it.

Honestly, 1-3 degrees is great. Some may see no temp difference at all. Its just all in the setup. If you have a great setup, and just change out the block..... who knows, may get a good temp decrease, may get nothing. This is something I fully understand, and expect to see. its like sticking headers on a car and expecting high preformance. Its how U match up the hardware and implament it.... that is when the rewards come.

Keep cooling!

Or like putting an exaust on a car without the headers. I really hate that.

I'm curious to see more temps, and user experiences with the spiral block. I'm working on bulding my second system for file serving and such, so I plan on buying one once I get that out of the way. Atleast you can get the new ones unlike the old model.

I am using the TC-4 and would say my temps are right online with the Spir@l. In nikhsub1 system he has a 17c differential between case and cpu temps and I have 15c differential. He is running his cpu a little higher voltage and his FSB is a little higher. If I could place my system in a room so that the case dropped to 25c my cpu temps would come down as well. I would bet if someone would run these blocks side by side very little difference would show up. My temps are in the sig. Our house does not have AC, but my office does. I think I will take my system to work an adjust the temps in the office so that my case temps read 25c and then see what my cpu temps read. Living in Arizona and trying to keep the house cool is a project in its self.
