What kinda lenghts have you gone to, to keep your pump(1250) quiet?. I've been thinking of making a sort of 'cradle'and suspending it with elastic. what do you think?.
Make it so there's two kinda |_| shaped metal(ALu) brackets (viewed end on), bolted/screwed to the case floor, with fairly strong round elastic holding it at the four corners of the pump,(so it hangs in the middle of the |_| ). the original mounting holes would be good for this!!. Good/Bad idea?. gimme yours!! ![]() ![]() |

Suspension (your idea) is the best method overall, if you want to go that way. Otherwise rubber feet / silent blocks are enough but not as good.

Suspension is better than rubber feet. Just run a few lengths of package string/twine in loops from something in your cage and make a ghetto cradle. If that doesn't work, try some packing foam ... the swiss cheese looking open cell foam, not styrofoam ... like what your motherboard was lying on in its box. Wrap your pump up in that loosely and throw it back in your case. Viola, noise is reduced for $1 at Mail Boxes Etc.

I just placed my pump on two layers of fire retardent foam sheets that were cut to size. I originally had the pump bolted down on rubber feet. But that made it difficult to get to components. So unless you're going to carry your water cooling rig around. Just lay it on some foam.

Ive got my 1250 mounted on a cut up mousepad. It works fine, it makes no noise but there is still a little vibration. Im interested in those rubber feet. Is there any where in america to get them?

I just use velcro. Works great at keeping the pump in one place while the case is moving yet easy enough to get the pump out when servicing. The velcro also acks as a vibration dampener becuase of the felt that it uses to keep its grip. Works wonders for me................

Suspension worked OK. I hung a 1250 with intertubes from a bike. The strechy rubber worked quite well, but not ideally.
Best bet is thick foam. Like the stuff they pack disk drives with. 3 inches thick = silence. The air pockets absorb all the vibration far better then rubber. |

if I was going that direction I'd drill holes in the case floor, mount grommets into the holes, mount grommets into the pump slots/holes, and use a rubber 'spacer' between the two~ to stop the little metal 'tube inserts' you get in the grommets, (if you get the good ones that is ![]() I don't think rubber feet are as effective though. might be OK for a 1048, but a 1250 or 1060 needs foam or suspending I think... ************************************************** I thought about mounting an oblong shaped peice of 'mouse~mat' type stuff on some raised rubber grommets,(so it's suspended about 1CM off the case floor) then fixing the pump to the mousemat. should be quite effective and not too ghetto ![]() |

Mounting it on foam keeps it nice and quiet for me.

Totally quiet - have to put a finger on it, if i want to check if it's running... but pretty space-consuming! ;-)

My watercooling setup is almost done. I still have to mount some things as my ccfl lights, blue lcd and a blue hdd vu-meter. But I'll surely post some pics when it's finished! |

okay, back on topic. if u guys compare an eheim 1250 to a 1048. does it produce alot more noise? the only time i can hear the 1048 is when my pc is shut off, the hdd's make more noise than anything in my setup now.

I attached some 3M Bumpon at the base of the pump and its practically silent.
BTW< is it true that if u have more loops that kill flowrates in your setup, your pump will vibrate lesser? |
