ere it goes. i just finished my first ever water cooling system . everything is connected, made a fill/ bleed line, and everything. so i pour the water in the fill and bleed line and get ready for the moment of truth as i am about to plug the pump in to start leak testing. i plug it in and NOTHING happens. nothing at all. the pump does not start. there is no on/off switch either. this is directly into the wall. i have tried plugging it into every single outlet in my house and they all work as well (other devices work in the outlet so it is a pump prob).
wtf is wrong? when i got my pump in august, i put it in a bucket of water to see which part of it pushed the water out and which sucked the water in and it worked fine in water. now i take it out and it does not do anything. did the pump break? wtf? anyone else have this issue? HELP! here is the weird thing, the pump heats up even when its not plugged in. i think thats cause i cant get any water into the heater core because the damn pump isnt working! the white lines in the pic is a tube you cant see because of a bar that goes from the tube out of the block into a tfitting, back to the pump the h2o is puple cause i put purple ice in the water |

Have you taken it apart to see if theres something cought in the impeller? When you plug it in does it even hum or does it just heat up? You may just have a dead pump, but first take it apart and see if anything is broke inside.

Have you tried actually taking it out of the system and running it in a bucket of water, like you say you did when you first got it? If you know for certain that it worked under those conditions previously, double check that it does/doesn't still work in that situation. I can't see how having tubes attached could affect it, but you never know - or maybe it's the orientation the pump's in, or the way it's fitted to the case. Just clutching at straws really, but just try to undo everything you have done to it since it last worked - and of course, like Fragn'stein says, check for no obstructions. Good luck

Its always something simple, and it always makes you feel dumb when someone else points it out. Thank god for forums, and friends.

Man, by just looking at that setup, man you're room is going to sound like a 60Hz symphony!!! I've got one of them nasty Via 1300's and they vibrate like HELL! Doesn't matter wtf flow-setup you have... It's a high-output but cheaply designed pump... I vote throw it out and get a real pump, like I should be talking? lol I just don't have the money for anything better as of yet...

no problem. the viaaqua pump is not a bad pump at all, I've had 3 in different systems al all of them were reliable. They are small and provide good flow for a very good price, all you need is a little vibration damping.

Okay, agreed that the Via does indeed pump it's little impeller out, BUT, the vibrations the NOISE is just RIDICULOUS for how it's advertised... Even my old cheapo small pump didn't vibrate like it was about to blow. I just think that the pump is just not what it seems and that anyone would be better getting something else... Oh yeah and about damping... I've got my Via suspended from it's 1/2" tubing which is about 1ft high and then going to some 3/4" tubing to my res. It does not touch the case what so ever, yet and still the LOUD and annoying 60hz; HmmmMMmMMmmmMMmmMMm persists! I've taken everything apart, applied a multitude of differing greases, Teflons, and just leaving it without any of them and it still does it's loudness. The shaft is smooth, straight as can be, but it's just a loud, nasty pump, which can push some weight...AT a cost (see above) I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is trying to avoid NOISE and vibration.
WAIT! There's more!!! Haha... Lets NOW discuss how much HEAT the Via dumps into a given system. Mine, with barely any headload produces some serious water temp increases. Ex: Measurements taken a few days ago... Ambient: 29.5C Watertemp with system on and pump started 33.5C Water temp with system OFF and pump still running after 3 hours ~37-39C! I've got a beefy chevette heater Core, NO 90degree bends, 1/2 and 3/4 tubing, hardly restrictive water block. The pump is a HEAT MONSTER. I think it's just a rough design, yes it pumps good, but, okay forget it. Buy what you want, but don't complain in the forums when you see your temps INCREASE or stay the same from your old less efficient pump when you switch to the VIA-series pumps... Helll I'm about to try out a Rio and wish for better. SPending near $100 for a measily ~300 (if that) Enheim or Danner is just ludicrous! ![]()

Well....I was thinking about getting one of those pumps.....because of its size. I need something about that size, do yall know of anything that is better, but similar in size. i.e. fits in 3.5 bay?

Try a Rio. A Danner might fit too, dunno.
