Heatsink/ Heat Pipe / ThermoSiphon Cooling The cat will only make the mistake of putting its paw by your HSF once. :) Also the place to discuss the new high end heat pipe goodness. |

I'm looking for a large, skived copper heatsink without the slot cutting across the middle for the mounting bracket.
Is there such a thing? If not, is there any extruded fin copper heatinks without the slot? |

Cant think of any without the mounting slot. I am assuming you don't want that channel through the center as a preferential flow path. Another option would be something like this:
http://www.alphanovatech.com/cat_lse.html Globalwin sells an alum/copper hs/fan called the SAK38 based on this design. Edit: I was thinking the Dynatron BH would work but it also has holes in the base. What about the Zalman "Flower heatsinks? Could they be modified to work? |

Well, it's not gonna be used in the "normal" heatsink fashion.
Looks like I might have to go with the Dynatron passive skived heatsink if I go this route... |

I'd think that electronic warehouse websites would be hte best place to try and find generic heatsinks, but they usually ahve cheapo generic ones...

Yes, it was for a waterblock, just one of many paper designs. I wanted to experiment

Thanks...
![]() Yes, I realize perfect is a relative term... ![]() When I first looked at that HS picture, I couldn't tell whether or not it had fins! I assume it does. |

Heres a better pic from Newegg http://65.119.30.174/productimage/35-106-015-01.JPG
I'm working on it as we speak, lapping the base here at work. Once I finish more of it, I'll post pics in the Watercooling area. I have a 2nd one running as a heatsink on my P4 1.6A right now, loud little bastard though ![]() |

Not sure if this is relivent to your wants but it doesnt hurt to post this message
![]() Have you seen the Alpha PEP66? It is a rather large aluminum HS w/ Copper core. The fins are about 3" tall and has no mounting channel. It was designed around a ducting shroud that the fan attaches to and blows the air from side->side, not top->down. http://www.overclockers.com/articles105/ Hope this helps. Let me know if this is what you were looking for becuase I have one.
