Waterblock Noob needs help with design

Here is my idea

The inlet is a 1/2"ID tube going over the center piece of copper. My Q is that I was thinking of drilling this out of a 2"x3"x1/2" piece of copper and drilling the channels a little less than 1/2" (7/16"?) how thin should the base be. Also how is my design? Any design advice would be appreciated but I would like any designs to be able to be made with a drill press. Thanks.

I did this block b/c of Cathar's reply to my topic i started on the overclockers forum because he said that the block would perform well if i found a way to make the water going onto the center spike get into the exit channel.

How about adding a outlet in all 4 corners instead of just one?

I've decided not to go witha complicated block
(for now

) so I plan on making a basci spiral with 3/2" deep 1/2"wide channels( maybe a little taller and skinnier channels. Any suggestions to accieve optimum Efiectentcy with a spiral.

PS I was also thinking abou the latest MaskedGeek block,not the type-s but one he decided to make for fun. sort of like the maze 1 but with a fin in the middle of the channel over the CPU.

if you can do that with maybe 3 or 4 (or more) fins over the center i feel that block would perform pretty well. Not too flow restrictive and good surfacr area over the die....

I'm liking Gulp's idea, but I'd smooth out the spikes inbetween the holes etc... a nice dremel clean up job... Or add another outlet on the opposing side of the block then join then outlets with an adaper... I'm not all about 3+lines going to the block, just too much space that will be taken up in a midtower...?

It deffinately will work. How well? Can't really say but I've seen drilled blocks like this perform pretty decent.
